Mountaineer's Cottage

Mountaineers' cottage is located on Hala Izerska, enchanting every hiker with its views and landscape. It is the only surviving former German building from the former settlement of Gross-Iser, which was founded by Czech religious refugees. In 1734, the settlement was inhabited by crofters and cottagers. In 1880, there were 38 shepherds' huts here.

The mountain cottage was once the second school in Świeradów. In 1945, at the end of the war, the well-equipped school had full water and sewage installations and lighting. Unfortunately, it was devastated and stripped of most of its equipment and structural elements. In today's dining room, there was a stable. The school was converted into a student hostel by students of the College of Engineering in Zielona Góra in the mid-1980s.

Currently, Chatka attracts hikers with its home-cooked cuisine, dominated by pancakes and fried cheese. You can feel the homely atmosphere here. Additionally, there are 40 accommodation places here. The cottage, although not equipped with the luxuries and amenities typical of hotels or guesthouses, is ready to host tourists at any time of the year. Especially if you are a winter tourist and travel around the Jizera Mountains on cross-country skis, running along the "Hala Jizerska" route or the road from Orle to Jizera Łąka or Polana Jizerska, you simply have to stop here for a moment.
