According to the Slavs, linden was supposed to protect against evil forces and lightning. War councils, courts and ceremonial dances were held under its branches.
A linden tree was planted in the central part of the settlement, marriages were concluded under it and courts were held. Old trees could not be cut down under pain of death, as they were considered good trees. From 1602, in Karpacz, under the spreading, impressive linden tree standing opposite the current "BACHUS" restaurant, mayor's courts were held, and from then on the tree was called the "court linden". Currently, the linden tree is under conservation protection. It is considered a natural monument, is approximately 5 m in circumference and is over 150 years old.
