Podgórze Mine in Kowary

The underground tourist route in the first stage of launch is approximately 1,600 meters long. While visiting the underground, you will learn about the fascinating history of mining from the 12th century to the secret activities of the R-1 Industrial Plant. Our guides will explain the specifics of miners' work, techniques for exploiting underground uranium deposits and answer the question of where the USSR armed itself during the Cold War. Our underground is a place where history, science and curiosities from the past will allow you to penetrate the carefully hidden history of the Polish People's Republic.

The tourist route is approximately 1,600 meters long. Entries take place every half hour.
By visiting the Podgórze Mine, you will learn about the history of mining in Lower Silesia, starting from the 13th century. An additional attraction for visitors is receiving mining lamps for the duration of the tour, as the route itself is not lit.
In fact, the discovery of secrets in the Mine continues to this day. With the help of our qualified guides, you will experience unforgettable moments.

Visiting the Underground Tourist Route lasts approx. 1.20 hours, the length of the route is approx. 1,600 m, the temperature is approx. 8 degrees, the air humidity is approx. 97%.
