Before you go to Świeradów-Zdrój with your dog

Before going to Świeradów-Zdrój, it is worth making an appointment with your pet for a check-up at the vet.. The vet will check the general health of the dog, update vaccinations (e.g. against rabies) and advise on appropriate protection against ticks and other parasites.

Also remember to microchip your dog and attach an ID tag with your phone number to his collar. This is extremely helpful in the event of a missing pet and allows for a faster and more effective search.

What to take with you on a trip to Świeradów-Zdrój with your dog?

When packing for a holiday with your dog to Świeradów-Zdrój, it is worth taking with you all the necessary things that will ensure a comfortable stay and safety. Here's a travel "must have" for every dog owner:

  • Food and bowls – preferably one that the dog uses every day.
  • Suspenders – they are comfortable and do not restrict the dog’s movements.
  • A shock-absorbing leash and a longer cord for trips along mountain trails.
  • Waist belt - ensures freedom when walking with your pet.
  • Current dog health booklet.
  • Poop bags.
  • Trainers and treats - perfect for disciplining your pet.
  • Foldable travel bowl and water bottle (with feeder).
  • Muzzle (physiological model) - dog friendly and useful in public places or in emergencies on the trail.
  • Protection against ticks and fleas (collar/spray/drops/tablets from the vet).
  • Outerwear and shoes - useful in winter for dogs that do not have an undercoat. Booties protect the dog's paws from cuts in rocky terrain and on hot asphalt.
  • First aid kit - dressings, disinfectants and medicines from the vet.
  • A bed and favorite toys – will provide your pet with a sense of security.

❗Remember❗

Feeding a dog immediately before intense physical exertion can result in stomach torsion, which can be very dangerous. Food should be given no later than 3-4 hours before setting off on a longer walk, or alternatively, treat your pet to a hearty dinner the day before. The dog should receive the next portion of food only after returning from the trip.

Hiking trails and dog-friendly areas in Świeradów-Zdrój 🎒

The Jizera Mountains are a very accessible place for canine companionship. The local trails are characterized by wide gravel paths that are devoid of sharp stones and extreme elevation gain. Another advantage is that they are not invaded by crowds of tourists.

In the area of the Świeradów Zdrój forest district there are also Natura 2000 areas. These are areas created to protect populations of wild birds, natural habitats and rare species. A big advantage is that we can move around them with our pet. Natura 2000 areas in the Jizera Mountains include:

  • Peat bogs of the Jizera Mountains
  • Meadows of the Jizera Mountains and Foothills
  • Adits in Leśna

❗Remember❗

The Jizera Mountains are not under strict protection, but some areas are covered by the Natura 2000 program, so dogs MUST BE ON A LEASH!

The most interesting and beautiful dog hiking trails in the Jizera Mountains include:

Izera Hall 🌬️:

  • Jakuszyce - Orle Tourist Station - Hala Izerska and Chatka Górzystów. Expedition for about 5 hours.
  • Fun fact: The Izera Hall is Polish cold pole. In the past, the Polish cold pole was considered to be the area around Suwałki and Olecko. Currently, the lowest average temperatures are recorded at the meteorological station of the Świeradów Forest District on Hala Izerska.

Wysoka Kopa (1126 meters above sea level) 🌄:

  • The shortest route leads from Rozdroże Izerskie. Estimated travel time is about 3 hours.
  • Fun fact: Wysoka Kopa is the highest peak in the Jizera Mountains, and the mountain itself is densely covered with forest. The trail to the top is very attractive in terms of views.

Sępia Góra🏔️:

  • Route from Świeradów-Zdrój - the entrance to the trail is nearby Culture Station, where there is also a large, free parking lot.
  • Fun fact: Legends and tales say that there used to be a pagan temple on the top of Sępia Góra. It is also said that during World War II, gold belonging to the Third Reich was hidden in this place.

❗Gondola lift for dogs❗

In Świeradów-Zdrój there is a modern gondola lift to Stóg Izerski, which is dog-friendly. Transport of dogs only with muzzles and on a leash under the care of the owner. Transport of the pet is free!
