With a dog in Karpacz? Find out more!

Karpacz, a picturesque town located in the heart of the Karkonosze Mountains, is an ideal place for a holiday with your pet. When planning a trip with your dog, it is worth preparing for various situations to ensure the comfort of both yourself and your pet.

Thanks to our guide, you will learn what places are worth visiting, what trails to go and where to find dog-friendly restaurants and accommodation. Spend an unforgettable time in Karpacz and discover how much joy holidays with a dog can bring!

Preparations before departure

Before leaving for Karpacz, it is worth taking your dog for a check-up at the vet. The doctor will check the general health of your pet, update vaccinations, including those against rabies, and advise on appropriate protection against fleas and ticks.

It is also important that the dog is chipped and has an ID tag, the so-called address with the owner's contact details. This is extremely helpful in the event of a missing animal and enables effective searches.

What to take for a trip?

When packing for a holiday with your dog to Karpacz, it is worth preparing all the necessary things that will ensure its comfort and safety. Here are the "must haves" for every dog owner:

  • Food and bowls – preferably those that the dog is already used to.
  • Foldable travel bowl and water bottle - the perfect set for hiking in the mountains.
  • A bed and favorite toys – thanks to them, the dog will feel safer.
  • Suspenders – they are comfortable and do not restrict the dog's movements, it is best to attach an ID tag to them.
  • A shock-absorbing leash and a longer cord for mountain journeys.
  • Waist belt - provides greater freedom during walks.
  • Dog health booklet with current vaccinations.
  • Poop bag – necessary when walking around the city and on tourist trails.
  • Trainers and treats - perfect for a longer route.
  • Muzzle (physiological model) - comfortable for the dog and useful in public places or in an emergency on the trail.
  • Protection against ticks and fleas (collar/spray/drops).
  • Outerwear and shoes - useful in winter for dogs that do not have an undercoat. The shoes protect the dog's paws from cuts on rocky terrain and on hot asphalt.
  • First aid kit - bandage, gauze, hydrogen peroxide and medicines from the vet.

❗Remember❗

Feeding a dog immediately before intense physical exercise may lead to gastric torsion, which may result in the animal's death. Food should be served no later than 3-4 hours before setting out on the trail, or treat your pet to a hearty dinner the day before. The dog should receive the next portion of food only after the trip.

Dog-friendly tourist trails 🎒

The Karkonosze National Park is one of the most accessible places for dog companionship. Karpacz is an ideal starting point for discovering the charms of the Karkonosze Mountains. There are almost 100 km of picturesque hiking trails in the area that are friendly to pets. However, before planning your trip with your pet, be sure to check the current information on the official KPN website - Map of closed trails and trails permitted for hiking with dogs.

Not all trails are allowed for pets, and special caution is recommended in other places. This is necessary due to park regulations whose task is to protect the local fauna and flora.

❗Remember❗

Dogs MUST BE ON A LEASH in the Karkonosze National Park!

All trails are appropriately marked with information boards, both those closed to dogs and those where you can hike with your pet. According to the current information available on the website of the Karkonosze National Park, we can go with our dog to the following places:

It is worth remembering that the goal of the Karkonosze National Park is to protect nature and spread ecological awareness among visitors. 🦊🌲
