Spa Museum

It also operates under the name of the Spa Mining Museum - and this term best describes the nature of the exhibition organized in the basement of the Spa House. The exhibition in the monument was prepared on the occasion of the 260th anniversary of the first lining of the mineral spring in Bad Flinsberg, which took place in 1754. From that moment, natural medicine activities in Świeradów-Zdrój gained incredible momentum.

Exhibits and geological information are intertwined with fragments of the history of the town, with particular emphasis on its chapters dealing with the history of the health resort. According to legends, already in the 12th century, the people of Silesia built a temple in the area, where they worshiped a golden lion statue and a miraculous spring. In turn, the first known record about the healing properties of Świeradów radium waters comes from 1572, its author is the Berlin doctor Leonard Thurneyssen. The decisive factor for his opinion was the fact that the body of a dead frog lying in one of the springs had not actually decomposed for several days.
