About 2 million tourists come to the Karkonosze Mountains every year. To protect the natural values of the Karkonosze Mountains, the Karkonosze National Park was created in 1959. In 1992, it was admitted to the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, which includes 564 biosphere reserves in 109 countries around the world. The park has 112 km of hiking trails, as well as ski trails, including 17 km of ski slopes.
There are five modern municipal playgrounds in the city, open all year round. Children's stay will be made more pleasant by walking routes, trips, ski kindergartens, an ice rink, sledding hills and sleigh rides. Rope parks, toboggan and snowtube tracks await the brave ones. Participating in a bank robbery in nearby Western City or visiting the magical Fairy Tale Park also provides excitement for the youngest. For those who like sightseeing, there are local museums: the Sports and Tourism Museum, the Toy Museum, the Karkonoskie Mysteries and the Lego Museum.
